Nu Metal News 6 October 2026, welcome to Tuesday. Release week has arrived for Wage War, Ice Nine Kills have lined up two records in a single announcement, and a festival closing set in Sacramento turned into one of those moments people will still be talking about in ten years. There is also a new album in motion in Atlanta, a festival coming back to Las Vegas after a decade away, and a band from Saudi Arabia with a single landing on Friday.
Wage War Open The Gate To Landfall With God Complex
Wage War have put out “God Complex”, the last piece of new music before Landfall arrives on Friday 9 October through Fearless Records. It is a thirteen track record, and “God Complex” sits in it as one of the heavier swings: a low, blunt main riff, Briton Bond pushing hard in the verses, and Cody Quistad lifting the chorus into something that will carry across a field. The band have spent a decade getting that balance right and this is them doing it without any visible effort.
What makes the timing interesting is the company it keeps. Wage War turned up in this column on Friday’s edition as part of a crowded autumn, and Landfall now lands in the same week as a pile of other records. The band have not softened the edges to compete. If anything “God Complex” is tighter and nastier than most of what surrounded Stigma, and the mix leaves room for the groove to actually hit rather than drowning everything in width.
The follow through is already booked. A UK and European headline run starts on 15 January 2027 at Y Plas in Cardiff and works through London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town, Manchester’s O2 Ritz, SWG3 in Glasgow and the O2 Institute in Birmingham before crossing to Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Cologne, Munich and Berlin on 30 January. Invent Animate and Windwaker open the whole thing. On paper that is a strong three band bill at a sensible venue size, which is increasingly rare.
Ice Nine Kills Announce A Christmas EP And Silver Scream 3

Ice Nine Kills used their own convention, Silver Scream Con V in Worcester, Massachusetts, to announce two records at once. The first is A Very Vicious Christmas, an EP of festive songs rebuilt as horror metal, due on 9 November. The second is the album the band’s audience has been circling for years: Silver Scream 3: Every Flick In The Book, set for 2027. Reports differ slightly on the album title, with some outlets listing it as The Silver Scream 3, so treat the definite article as unsettled for now.
The EP has a proper origin story. Those tracks were written for Art The Clown’s takeover of the Terror Tram at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, which means they were built to work in a moving vehicle full of screaming people rather than in a studio vacuum. Spencer Charnas described the EP as an early holiday gift and said that when the band were asked to score Art The Clown’s assault on the Terror Tram, they understood the assignment. A metal “Joy To The World” is among the songs.
It is worth saying plainly how unusual this band’s position is. Ice Nine Kills built a theatrical concept series that most labels would have talked them out of, then turned it into theme park commissions, a convention with its own Roman numeral, and a live show people dress up for. The Silver Scream records are the spine of it. A third one arriving in 2027 means the whole apparatus gets another year of oxygen, and the Christmas EP keeps the lights on through the winter.
Soulfly Hand Pain To Jakobe Moreno At Aftershock

On Sunday 4 October, closing night of Aftershock in Sacramento, Soulfly played “Pain” and brought out Jakobe Moreno to sing the part his father recorded. “Pain” comes from Primitive, the 2000 album that put Chino Moreno and Max Cavalera on the same track at the exact moment both of their bands were rewriting what heavy music could sound like. Twenty six years later the song went to the next Moreno, with Zyon Cavalera behind the kit.
Gloria Cavalera posted about it afterwards and did not undersell it, writing that Jakobe filled in on his dad’s part, that the voice was something else, and that he rolled the track up perfectly. She also mentioned that someone had predicted this exact collaboration back when Chino’s son was born. Two families who have been in each other’s orbit since the nineties, one song, a second generation on both sides of it. That is a better story than most bands get in a career.
Jakobe is not a guest who wandered on from the crowd either. He has played in several bands over the years, Death Rogen among them, and that project has already performed at Aftershock. Soulfly meanwhile are still touring Chama, their thirteenth record, released through Nuclear Blast in October 2025. The Aftershock version of “Pain” currently exists only as footage shot from the field, so the photograph here is from a Soulfly headline set instead.
The Callous Daoboys Start Album Four And Head For Europe
The Callous Daoboys announced the start of a fourth album in the most Daoboys way possible, posting that they were starting an album today if anyone cared. People care. The Atlanta band’s last record for MNRK Heavy turned a mathcore project with a violin into a genuine draw, and Carson Pace has since gone out of his way to tell fans that the recent loose songs are not on LP4, which suggests the new record is being kept deliberately separate.
Writing an album while booked solid is its own kind of discipline. From 3 November the band are across Europe and the UK with Enter Shikari and Holding Absence, taking in Hamburg’s Sporthalle, Zenith in Munich, Berlin, Brussels, Nottingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester, and finishing with two nights at Alexandra Palace in London on 20 and 21 November. Enter Shikari’s own long celebration, which we covered in the 1 October edition, runs straight through it.
That is a big room for a band whose songs change key and genre every ninety seconds, and it says something about how far the audience for this kind of music has travelled. The Daoboys have also had a good month outside of the venue circuit, with “Distracted By The Mona Lisa” picking up a run on UFC programming. Album four has no title, no date and no label statement yet, which is exactly where it should be in early October.
Extreme Thing Returns To Las Vegas With Twenty Bands

Extreme Thing has its full lineup. The Las Vegas festival returns on Saturday 20 March 2027 at Desert Breeze Event Center for its twenty fifth anniversary, after roughly a decade away, and the heavy end of it is stacked. The Beer Zombies Stage holds The Ghost Inside, Escape The Fate, Carnifex, Bleeding Through, Left To Suffer, Evergreen Terrace and Wristmeetrazor, which is a hardcore and metalcore spread that covers three separate decades of the form.
The rest of the bill is unusually broad for a festival that could easily have gone one way. The Smile Stage takes the ska and punk side with The Interrupters, The Aquabats, The Casualties, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Slow Gherkin, Roman Candle and Mexican Slum Rats. The 601 Fremont Stage carries Molotov Solution, Aurorawave, The Higher, Lady Radiator and The Dollheads, and a fourth stage is reserved for winners of a Battle of the Fans competition. Four stages, twenty plus bands, action sports running alongside.
Tickets went on sale yesterday, 5 October, at $59.99 for general admission, with merch bundles from around $75 and VIP at $199. If you are plotting what to wear for a March desert festival where the day runs hot and the night does not, our festival outfit guide covers the layering problem properly. Extreme Thing was part of a lot of Las Vegas teenagers’ education between 2001 and the mid 2010s, and bringing it back with this bill is a real statement.
Quicksand Take Bring On The Psychics To Australia And New Zealand
Quicksand are going to Australia and New Zealand in February with Whores. opening. Waxstar Touring have it booked for Crowbar in Sydney on Thursday 11 February, Crowbar in Brisbane on the Friday and the Leadbeater Hotel in Melbourne on the Saturday, then Double Whammy in Auckland on 19 February and San Fran in Wellington on the 20th. Presale opens this Friday 9 October, general sale the Monday after.
This is the first Quicksand run down there behind Bring On The Psychics, which came out in July through Equal Vision Records and was their first album in five years. Sergio Vega has said the band wrote it wanting a record they could add most of, if not all of, to the live set, and that intention is audible. It moves like something built to be played rather than assembled, which is not a given this far into a career.
Pairing them with Whores. is a smart piece of matchmaking. The Atlanta trio bring a thicker, uglier noise rock that sets off Quicksand’s cleaner lines rather than competing with them, and all three Australian shows are eighteen plus club rooms rather than sheds. Quicksand sit near the root of a lot of what this site covers: the heavy, melodic, slightly detached New York sound that a generation of nu metal and post hardcore bands quietly borrowed from.
Featured Band: Shock Out Bandage Pull The Leash On Click Slave!

Shock Out Bandage is the heavy alt metal project fronted by Aleksandr, originally from Russia and now based in Saudi Arabia, and on Friday 9 October the band release “Click Slave!”. We put them in front of readers for the first time in the 11 September edition, when the single was still a date on a calendar. It is now three days out, and the full track is better than the description promised.
The reference points Aleksandr gives are System Of A Down’s refusal to sit still, Korn’s low tuned groove and the brooding harmony side of Alice In Chains, and all three are genuinely in there rather than being name checked. The song is about digital addiction and the subscription economy, which could easily be a lecture, and is not. It stays specific. Midway through, a cold artificial voice cuts in to report that your happiness score has dropped three percent and offers to unlock Bliss Mode for $19.99, before a scream tears the whole thing open.
That is a good joke and a good hook at the same time, which is harder to pull off than it sounds. Writing heavy music between Russia and Saudi Arabia also means working a long way from any scene infrastructure, and you can hear the upside of that: nothing about “Click Slave!” sounds like it was focus grouped against whatever is currently working. If you want one new name from this week, make it this one.
Looking Ahead: Friday Is Loaded
Friday 9 October is doing a lot of work this week. Landfall arrives from Wage War, “Click Slave!” lands from Shock Out Bandage, and the Quicksand presale for Australia and New Zealand opens the same day, with general sale on Monday 12 October. Anyone holding a card for all three has a busy morning.
Before that, Alpha Wolf start the European and UK leg of their Let It Rip run on Thursday 8 October, with PSYCHO-FRAME, Fox Lake and Diamond Construct along for the twenty one dates through to the end of the month. Fox Lake in particular are worth getting there early for. Further out, the Callous Daoboys, Enter Shikari and Holding Absence package opens on 3 November, and Ice Nine Kills put out A Very Vicious Christmas on 9 November.
Then it is a long wait and a good one. Quicksand and Whores. hit Sydney on 11 February, Extreme Thing takes over Desert Breeze Event Center on 20 March, and Wage War open their own headline run in Cardiff on 15 January. If you missed it, yesterday’s edition has Turnstile on Saturday Night Live and Perpetua’s Veil Of Deception.
Get Your Band In This Column
Shock Out Bandage are in today’s column because they sent themselves in. That is the whole route. Fill in the Get Featured form with your links, your release or show date and a photo or your artwork, and it comes straight to us. What helps most: a date we can check, a streaming link that works, and an image you actually own. If you have a video on your own channel, say so. We read everything that comes in, and small and unsigned bands are the point of this column rather than the filler around the big names.
