Nu Metal News 9 October 2026, welcome to Friday. One of the biggest rock bands on the planet just mapped out a year of arenas on four continents, Trivium named their eleventh record and put the title track on screen, a Texas crossover institution released its first new music in eight years with a new voice at the front, and a Swedish four piece sent a video our way that deserves a much bigger room. Grab a coffee. This one is stacked.
Nickelback Book Everything Under The Sun Across Four Continents

Nickelback announced the Everything Under The Sun world tour this morning, and the routing is the kind of thing most bands only sketch on a whiteboard. North America runs from 6 February to 1 May 2027, taking in Pittsburgh, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Toronto, Denver, Dallas and a long western swing through Vancouver, Seattle, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Mexico City follows on 7 May. The UK and Ireland leg lands between 22 May and 2 June with Leeds, London’s O2, Birmingham, Dublin, Glasgow and Manchester.
Europe then picks it up from 5 June through 13 July, across Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne, Munich, Zurich, Milan, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Riga, Helsinki, Oslo and Copenhagen, before Australia closes the year with Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney between 2 and 16 October. Don Broco open almost everything, sitting out only 27 February and the Mexico City date. The artist presale starts Tuesday 13 October at 10am local, with the general on sale on Friday 16 October.
The tour carries Everything Under The Sun, the band’s tenth album, out on 30 October through Virgin Music and produced by Chris Baseford with Chad Kroeger. Three singles are already out: Bones For The Crows in March, Rattle The Cage in July with John 5 guesting, and Leave Me Behind in August. John 5 turned up in this column on Wednesday with three new signature Telecasters, so he is having a busy autumn either way.
A run this size matters beyond the band. Nickelback are putting a British act with Don Broco’s live energy in front of arena crowds on four continents, night after night, and every one of those rooms is full of people who came out for loud guitars. That pipeline feeds everything underneath it, which is why a Nickelback routing announcement is worth your attention even if their records are not the ones in your car.
Trivium Set A Crown In The Grave For 20 November
Trivium announced their eleventh album on Thursday. Crown In The Grave arrives on 20 November through Roadrunner Records, and the title track landed the same afternoon with a video directed by Pavel Trebukhin. Twelve tracks, opening with Jorogumo and closing on Serpent In The Flame, with Dead Inside Of Me, The Haunting Never Ends, Blackout The Dawn and Devour Your Dreams in between.
The record was made in the band’s own studio, and bassist Paolo Gregoletto framed that as the whole point. “We built our studio so we could give ourselves the time and space,” he said, describing an album that honours where Trivium have been while pushing somewhere new. Matt Heafy’s line is the one that will get quoted back at him for years: “Facing yourself is the final quest.” He has talked about letting go of the need to be perfect every night and enjoying the job more for it.
The title track is Trivium doing the thing they have always done best, which is making technical playing feel like a punch rather than a demonstration. Heafy’s clean-to-harsh switching sits right on top of the riff instead of beside it, and the drop two thirds through is built for a room full of people who already know it. A North American run with In Flames, Orbit Culture, Fit For An Autopsy and Frozen Soul follows this autumn.
Twenty November is turning into a genuine traffic jam, which we get into further down. It also puts Trivium in the same release week as a handful of smaller bands who have been circling that date for months, and that kind of crowding has a way of reshuffling the release calendar we were looking at on Tuesday.
Power Trip Come Back With Precinct 3 And Scavenger
Power Trip released two new songs on Thursday, Precinct 3 and Scavenger, their first new studio recordings in years. Outlets are counting the gap differently, with some calling it eight years and others dating it from 2020, so the headline number depends on which release you count from. Seth Gilmore sings them. He fronts Fugitive and sang in Skourge, he has been close to this band for a long time, and he steps into the role with obvious respect for it rather than an impression of it. Jacob Hansen produced both tracks with Blake Ibanez co-producing, and they arrive through Blue Grape Music, the band’s new home.
Precinct 3 is the one with the video, and it is pure Dallas crossover: a riff that lurches then sprints, a snare sound you could hang a door on, and a chorus that works as a chant before you have learned the words. Scavenger is the leaner of the two, closer to the Nightmare Logic end of the catalogue, and it is the one that tells you the band’s writing muscle has not gone anywhere.
Ibanez has been open about the measuring stick. “When we were writing this, we wondered what Riley would have wanted to write about,” he said. Riley Gale’s words and his generosity toward the people in front of him are a permanent part of what this band means, and these two songs are written to carry that forward rather than to replace it. A full album is set for spring 2027.
It is the second time in a week we have written about a band finding the right person to carry a voice that matters to people, after Milo Silvestro on what it takes to sing Fear Factory songs. Both answers come down to the same thing: learn the catalogue properly, then sing like yourself.
Fit For A King Put Dirt On The Lonely God Deluxe

Fit For A King put out Dirt on Thursday, the newest piece of a deluxe edition of Lonely God that arrives on 30 October. The deluxe adds three tracks to the record: Steady Doom, Blood Pact, which surfaced earlier this year, and Dirt itself. Pre-orders are open now through Solid State Records.
Ryan Kirby put the song’s subject plainly. “Dirt is about struggling to accept fault for any of your failures,” he said, and the lyric holds that line without flinching or excusing. Musically it is the band in their most direct mode, the one that made The Hell We Create connect: a mid-tempo stomp, a chorus built for the room rather than the studio, and a breakdown placed exactly where you want it instead of three bars early.
Deluxe editions get a lot of eye-rolling, and most of that is earned. This one is not padding. Three new songs on a record that was already one of the tighter metalcore albums of its year is a genuine second helping, and putting them out across a few months rather than dumping them in one go has kept Lonely God in rotation well over a year after its August 2025 release. That is good album management.
Worth noting for the diary: 30 October now holds the Lonely God deluxe and Nickelback’s Everything Under The Sun. Two very different records for two very different nights, landing on the same Friday.
Linkin Park Press Living Things In Red Smoke, Primer 55 Take Ringside

Linkin Park announced a limited red smoke vinyl pressing of Living Things on Thursday, due 20 November with pre-orders already open. No edition size has been given. Living Things is the 2012 record that pulled the electronics of A Thousand Suns back toward songs, and it is the one in the catalogue that has aged into a favourite rather than arriving as one. Burn It Down, Castle Of Glass and Lost In The Echo have all found second lives.
If you collect these, the red smoke variant is the kind of pressing that disappears quickly and then reappears at four times the price, so the pre-order is the sensible move. We went deep on why the visual side of this scene holds its value in our guide to the nu metal aesthetic, and record sleeves are a big part of that story.
Elsewhere on the nu metal shelf, Primer 55 got a shoutout on TNA Impact on Thursday night and were sitting at ringside as Jeff and Matt Hardy came to the ring. Nu metal and professional wrestling grew up in the same television decade, and seeing the band acknowledged on national television in 2026 is a small, cheerful reminder that this music never actually left. The Hardys have creative control of the 13 October Impact taping, so there may be more of this to come.
The Violent Hour Name Their Debut Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things
The Violent Hour announced their debut album on Thursday. Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things runs eleven tracks and arrives on 22 January 2027, led by Already Dead and a video shot in a morgue by Vicente Cordero. The band is fronted by Carla Harvey, whose self-titled debut EP came out in July 2025 through Megaforce Records with Charlie Benante writing and playing the music on it.
The live band around Harvey is Kiana De Leon on lead guitar, Sasha De Leon on drums, Jewel Steele on bass and Allie Kaye on rhythm guitar, which is a seriously capable room of players. Harvey has been clear that the title is not a slogan. “Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things isn’t just about girl power women behaving badly,” she said, framing a record about good people doing ugly things and what survival sometimes costs.
Already Dead is a properly convincing opening statement. It moves on a groove rather than a gallop, the hook sits low and mean, and the line Harvey gave about it, that “there’s nothing left for them to take, and that can become its own kind of power,” is exactly what the song sounds like. If you have been waiting to hear what she does with a full band and a full album, this is a very encouraging first look.
Grand Theft Auto VI Hands A Metal Station To Tom Araya And Kerry King

Rockstar previewed the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto VI this week, and one of them is all metal. The Chamber 106.6 has Tom Araya and Kerry King of Slayer as its guest DJs, which means two of the most recognisable voices in heavy music will be talking between tracks to an audience measured in tens of millions.
It is easy to shrug at a games tie-in. Do not. An in-game radio station is how an enormous number of people found Rage Against The Machine, Lamb Of God and System Of A Down in the first place, and a station curated under those two names is a doorway that stays open for years rather than a weekend of press. Whatever ends up on the playlist is going to see a streaming bump that most marketing budgets cannot buy.
It has been a strong fortnight for heavy music turning up where the general public actually is, after Turnstile took Baltimore hardcore onto Saturday Night Live in Monday’s edition. Speaking of Turnstile, they have a free show at the Washington Monument on Saturday 24 October, closing the Never Enough tour and raising funds for Human Concern International.
Featured Band: Grayscale Season Find The Exit
Grayscale Season come from Kungsbacka, a town on the Swedish west coast about half an hour south of Gothenburg, and they have been at this since 2013. Eddie Lejhagen sings, Adam Dahlman plays bass and shares vocals, Richard Sorensen is on guitar and Axel Karlsson plays drums. Two voices in a four piece is a structural choice, not a gimmick, and it is the thing that makes their records sound bigger than the line-up should allow.
Exit arrived with a video on Thursday and it is the best advert yet for the album behind it. The verse rides a downtuned, half-time groove with the guitars left dry and close, then the chorus opens up and both vocalists arrive at once, one clean and one shredded, stacked rather than traded. That is the nu metalcore move done properly: the heaviness comes from the space around the riff rather than from piling things on top of it.
The song is about the moment you stop negotiating with something that is hurting you and simply walk, and the arrangement mirrors that. It builds, it refuses the obvious breakdown twice, and when it finally lands it feels earned instead of scheduled. It is a smart piece of writing from a band who have clearly spent their thirteen years learning how to hold back.
Exit is track five on The Weight Of Things We Cannot Touch, an eleven song album out on 20 November, following the singles Strung Up and Yarusenai (Ghost). If you like Vended, Sylar or the heavier end of Loathe, this is a band to get in early on.
Looking Ahead: A Very Crowded 20 November
Three of today’s stories point at the same Friday. Trivium release Crown In The Grave on 20 November, Linkin Park’s red smoke Living Things pressing lands on 20 November, and Grayscale Season put out The Weight Of Things We Cannot Touch on 20 November. Add The Mars Volta’s live album Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business, also scheduled for November, and that week is going to be expensive.
Before that, 30 October carries Nickelback’s Everything Under The Sun and the Fit For A King Lonely God deluxe. The Mosaic Window release Answered Prayers through Metal Blade’s Vesperian imprint on 13 November. Then 22 January 2027 brings The Violent Hour’s debut, and Power Trip’s album is pencilled in for spring 2027.
Nearer than any of it: the Nickelback artist presale opens on Tuesday 13 October, with the general on sale on Friday 16 October. If you want a specific city on that routing, that is the week to be paying attention. And Turnstile’s free Washington Monument show on Saturday 24 October is the kind of thing people will be talking about for years, so if you are anywhere near DC, go.
For what led into all of this, yesterday’s edition has Enter Shikari, Skindred, Bush and the thirty year Razorblade Suitcase reissue.
